Mavs Close Texas Hall In Style

The UTA Men’s Basketball team carried an 8 game winning streak into their last game at Texas Hall.

Stephen F. Austin came into Arlington looking to give the Mavs their first conference loss of the season. The game was close throughout and was tied 50-50 with 3:12 left in the game when the Mavs used the energy of the crowd to capture a 63-54 victory.

Senior LaMarcus Reed led the Mavericks with 17 points, including 8-8 from the free throw line. UTA shot 18-22 from the line in the second half and forced 24 turnovers in the game.

The evening ended with post game speeches from President James Spaniolo and former Maverick basketball player Willie Brand, who thanked the emotional fans.

The players remained on the court to sign autographs and talk to fans as the curtain fell.

UTA’s first game in the College Park Center will be February 1st against UTSA.
